BLIND RIVER – A night after losing on home ice to the Blind River Beavers, the Elliot Lake Wildcats repaid the favour Saturday evening by skating to a 2-1 road decision in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Elliot Lake open the scoring 38 seconds into the middle stanza on David Dedo’s sixth goal of the season.
The Wildcats added another off the stick of Brett Crook 10 minutes later as his seventh tally of the season proved to be the eventual game-winner.
Blind River’s Dylan McMahon dashed Logan Sawka’s shutout bid with 6:18 remaining in regulation, but that’s as close as the Beavers would get in the low-scoring affair.
Sawka finished with 30 stops on the night to record the win while Garret Boyonoski faced 38 shots in defeat for Blind River.
