SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – Daniel Beaupre scored twice as the Soo Thunderbirds defeated the Blind River Beavers 6-3 at the John Rhodes Community Centre on Friday night.
Thomas Degagne contributed two assists while Samuel Lake had one goal and one assist for the Thunderbirds.
The Thunderbirds Callum McAuley got the Birds rolling with his 11th just under 6 minutes into the first.
The Beavers Daniel Vasic got the visitors squared up midway through the period as he scored his 20th of the season in his 20th game since joining the Beavers.
Late in the first, Samuel Lake potted his 10th of he season to give the Thunderbirds a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Vasic continued his impressive goal scoring display with his 21st just under a minute into the second period to make it 2-2.
Ottawa 67’s prospect Jacob Smith put the TBirds back ahead with his 18th at 11:37.
Then in the dying seconds of the second, veteran Daniel Beaupre cashed in his 14th to give the Thunderbirds a 4-2 lead after two periods.
Midway through the third Beaupre scored his second of the game at 9:21 to increase the lead to 5-2.
Flint Firebirds prospect Brendan Cooke helped pull the Beavers closer with his 9th of the season just over 30 seconds later to cut the Thunderbirds lead to 5-3.
Grayson Ebrahim iced the victory with an empty net goal at the 18 minute mark to give the Thunderbirds the victory.
With the win the Thunderbirds improve to 25-12-2-1 while the Beaver fall to 32-10 on the season.
