ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – As he has done the majority of the season, Caleb Serre was once again instrumental in a Blind River Beavers victory, as his four-goal, one-assist effort paved the way in an eventual 7-1 decision over the Elliot Lake Wildcats in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League West Division contest Sunday evening at Centennial Arena.
After joining Blind River earlier in the week, ex-Wildcats’ forward Noah Minns was quick to capitalize against his former club as he took a Serre feed and scored just 17 seconds into the game.
Then Serre potted markers 37 and 38 on the year a couple of shifts apart midway through the first as he extended his league scoring lead.
A man advantage helped Elliot Lake to get on the board at 13:11 as Connor Taylor collected his 14th of the season to make it 3-1 after one.
The Beavers would up their edge in the middle stanza as they tacked on three more markers to extend their cushion up to five as Serre picked up his hat trick after earlier goals from teammates Andrew Malek and Milos Todorovic.
In the third, goal No. 4 on the night and his league-best 40th for Serre finished off the evening’s affair.
Minns dished out four assists to go with his goal, joining Serre with a five-point performance.
Another former member of the Wildcats, in Dominic Boily, made 25 saves in net for Blind River to record the win while Jonathan Lemaire faced 49 shots in defeat.
