CHELMSFORD, Ont. – Riding a five-goal second period, the Rayside-Balfour Canadians went on to roll over the Blind River Beavers 8-2 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest Thursday evening at Chelmsford Arena.

Blind River did open the night’s scoring 3:50 into things as Jared Dupuis gave the guests an early lead.

It was all Rayside-Balfour after that beginning with a Mitchell Martin effort 37 seconds later.

Not done there, Nicholas DeGrazia added another for the Canadians a couple shifts later as they took a 2-1 edge into the first intermission.

Breaking it open in the middle stanza, RBC struck five times in a six and a half minute span, to send them on their way.

Martin began the outburst at 5:37 with his second of the evening before Giordano Biondi made it 4-1 half way through the match-up.

Scoring again on the next shift, Oliver Smith added his 27th moments later while Zacharie Giroux added one of his own just after that.

Capping off the goal parade, DeGrazia clicked again as his 29th tally leads all NOJHL rookies.

In the third, Jaren DeBolt got one back for the Beavers at 4:36 with help from Ethan Graham and Caleb Serre.

Then Martin capped off the one-sided result by finishing off his initial NOJHL hat trick to round out the scoring.

Brett Jacklin and Mathieu Dokis-Dupuis both chipped in with three assists to aid the Canadians cause.

Between the pipes, Rayside-Balfour netminder David Bowen was busy, making 46 saves in getting the victory.

Blind River starter Jackson Hjelle suffered the loss, allowing four against on 23 attempts while Dominic Boily also gave up four on 13 chances in nearly 30 minutes of relief.
