NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Soo Thunderbirds’ defenceman Andrew Gibson; Elliot Lake Red Wings’ forward Dayton Clarke and Blind River Beavers’ goaltender Jeremi Delaquis have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Oct. 10.

ANDREW GIBSON, (D) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – Making his NOJHL debut over the weekend, the 16-year-old blueliner was instrumental in each of the two wins the Thunderbirds collected.

The 16-year-old from Windsor, Ont., notched his initial league tally Friday with a laser from the point in the third period in a come from behind victory over the Soo Eagles.

Gibson then blasted home two more markers Saturday and dished out two assists, including one on the game-winner, as part of a four-point night, in a road decision over Espanola.

He was a fourth-round draft pick of the Soo Greyhounds in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection.

DAYTON CLARKE, (F) ELLIOT LAKE RED WINGS – Racking up a NOJHL-high six goals over the period, Clarke has quickly moved into a tie for seventh spot in tallies among league skaters.

Included in his contributions was a pair of power play markers and picking up his initial NOJHL hat trick.

Clarke will enter play this week riding a three-game goal streak, making him the only player on the Red Wings roster to accomplish this feat, so far this campaign.

JEREMI DELAQUIS, (G) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – The 18-year-old Quispamsis, N.B., product was solid in both of his starts last week, winning each of them, while allowing just two goals in total, in backstopping the Beavers to a pair of victories.
