SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that defenceman Tenzin Nyman (Timmins Rock); goaltender Alexandre Boivin (Hearst Lumberjacks) and blueliner Leighton Hurst (Blind River Beavers) have been named its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending Nov. 17.
Tenzin Nyman, (D) Timmins Rock: Helping lead the Rock at both ends of the ice, the efforts of the Timmins captain aided in a trio of road victories over the weekend.
Hailing from Maple Ridge, B.C., the 20-year-old rearguard tallied twice and assisted on three others, including one on a late game-winner, as the Rock picked up away triumphs versus Iroquois Falls, Espanola and Elliot Lake.
A veteran of 118 NOJHL contests, Nyman has now reached the 50-point plateau in his career.
Alexandre Boivin, (G) Hearst Lumberjacks: Getting a couple of road starts during the time frame, Boivin won both of them as part of a trio of road victories Hearst collected.
The 18-year-old rookie netminder from Blind River, boasted a 1.49 goals-against average and a stingy .952 save percentage for the Lumberjacks and also posted his first NOJHL shutout.
Boivin enters play this week tied for second in the league in wins and sports an overall record of 10-2-0-1.
Leighton Hurst, (D) Blind River Beavers: Doing his part from the back-end, the 18-year-old defenceman from Owen Sound, Ont., helped the Beavers win in back-to-back outings over the weekend.
Dishing out four assists in total, featuring one on the decider against the Soo Thunderbirds Saturday, Hurst followed that up with a personal season-high three helpers at French River Sunday.
His efforts has moved him into the Top 10 in rookie scoring among D-men, sitting tied for seventh, with eight points.
