NOJHL announces its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Lucas Lowe (Timmins Rock); defenceman Alex Little (Powassan Voodoos) and forward Daniel Vasic (Blind River Beavers) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending February 24.

LUCAS LOWE, (F) TIMMINS ROCK:
Instrumental in both wins the Rock picked up last week, Lowe collected five points, on a pair of tallies and a trio of assists.

Among the accomplishments for the 18-year-old from Toronto was helping set-up the deciding marker, in the third period, in a one-goal triumph over Hearst, then notching the game-winner, in overtime, on home ice versus Powassan.

A veteran of 100 NOJHL contests, Lowe has scored 20 times and dished out 43 helpers in his time in the league, while having established personal single-season bests in goals, assists and points.

ALEX LITTLE, (D) POWASSAN VOODOOS:
The veteran blueliner’s efforts at both ends of the ice, helped the Voodoos post a 3-0-1-0 mark in a four-game road swing over the time frame.

In all, the 20-year-old from Minden, Ont., Little picked up a couple of markers, including a shorthanded goal, and doled out four helpers to help pace Powassan offensively.

Having appeared in 130 league match-ups in his Jr. A career, the Voodoos captain has accumulated 109 points along the way by scoring 38 times and adding 71 assists.

DANIEL VASIC, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS: The 17-year-old Vasic, who hails from Newmarket, Ont., registered a combined seven points in a trio of Blind River victories.

With four goals, featuring a game-winner, and a shorthanded effort, as well as three helpers, highlighted with one on a deciding goal, Vasic extended a point streak to five in succession, on a campaign where he has only been held pointless twice in 29 games played for the Beavers.

The Beavers’ forward currently sits seconds among all NOJHL skaters in game-winning goals with six and ranks seventh in the league in total tallies with 28, despite having appeared in multiple fewer contests than those currently ahead of him in each category.
