Doak posts shutout as Blind River blanks Espanola

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Aidan Doak stopped all 27 shots he faced to post his second shutout of the season as the Blind River Beavers went on to blank the Espanola Express 7-0 Wednesday night in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at the Blind River Community Centre.

Blind River took control of the contest in the first period grabbing a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes on a pair of tallies from Mark Bastianello and a single courtesy of Dylan McMahon, who notched the eventual game-winner during a man advantage.

The Beavers tacked on three more in the middle stanza to extend their cushion with Brock Brown, Zac Lambrecht and Max Khull all finding the back of the net.

Lambrecht added another early in the third to round out the scoring.

Noah Medalsy and Yianni Liarakos both chipped in with two assists each to aid the offensive cause for the home side.

Espanola’s Aaron Roschinsky saw a solid 12-game point streak come to an end in defeat.

Logan Sawka started in net for the Express and suffered the loss allowing four against on 19 shots while Mitchell Jacobson saved 19 of 22 in nearly 39 minutes of relief.

The victory for Blind River was their 28th of the campaign, which are the most wins for the club since they amassed 29 back in 2009-10.
