SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – A three-goal first period outburst sent the Blind River Beavers on their Wednesday as they skated to an eventual 5-3 road triumph over the Soo Eagles in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Pullar Stadium.
Blind River connected just past the three-minute mark to send them on their way on a Max Khull marker.
Dylan McMahon extended the Beavers’ cushion at 11:10 while Khull collected his second of the session a couple shifts later to go up by three.
Sault Ste. Marie did get one back before the period was complete thanks to Kobe Keller’s 11th of the season at 15:02.
The Eagles would pull to within one midway through the middle stanza on a Matt Capisciolto effort, but Blind River tacked on two in the latter stages of the frame with Owen Robinson and Jack Sampson both getting on the scoresheet.
Up a man early in the third, the Soo’s Christian Bardarson notched his 15th of year during a power play at 3:39 to pull the home side to within two.
However, Beavers’ goaltender Michael Corson did the rest finishing up with an impressive 44-save performance to register the victory.
Carter McPhail suffered the loss for the Eagles seeing 22 shots fired his way in defeat.
