BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Dylan Hendrick tallied twice Saturday night to help lead the Blind River Beavers to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at the Blind River Recreation Centre.
The hometown Beavers started the scoring 16 and a half minutes into the proceedings when Hendrick banged in the rebound after a shot hit a teammate and saw it come right back to him, where he converted from close range.
Going to the power play moments later, Caleb Minns made it 2-0 as he lifted one over the shoulder of Kirkland Lake netminder Keaton Lyons.
Up a skater past the half-way point of the second stanza, Blind River extended their lead as Hayden Webster found the back of the net by cranking one from the right point that flew through a partial screen.
Heading to the final stanza, the Gold Miners put an end to Gavin Disano’s shutout bid thanks to Jacob Hiltz at 1:03, only to see Hendrick supply his second of the contest on the next shift to put the Beavers back up by three.
A Kirkland Lake power play helped them make it 4-2 when Chance DeBolt connected at 4:03 to give him seven tallies on the year.
However, that proved to be the evening final goal as Blind River held on to collect the home ice triumph.
