NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Timmins Rock goaltender Tyler Masternak along with forwards Olivier Cloutier-Faucher of the Hearst Lumberjacks and Jared Dupuis of the Blind River Beavers have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending November 22.

TYLER MASTERNAK, (G) TIMMINS ROCK – In two starts last week, the veteran netminder was all but unbeatable as he posted a pair of victories over the Rayside-Balfour Canadians.

The 20-year-old Oshawa, Ont., native allowed just one goal against in the pair of outings finishing up his run in the time frame with an 0.50 goals-against average and an equally stingy .974 save percentage.

Masternak gave up just the one against in regulation Thursday, plus handled all three shootout attempts he faced in a narrow 2-1 triumph at the Canadians.

Sunday then saw him register his NOJHL-best 17th career shutout as Timmins blanked Rayside-Balfour 2-0.

He presently paces all league netminders in both average and save mark at 0.67 and .971 respectively.

OLIVIER CLOUTIER-FAUCHER, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – Continuing to pile up points, high-scoring Hearst got six of them from Cloutier-Faucher over the weekend in a trio of triumphs over Cochrane.

The 20-year-old Lumberjacks assistant captain, who hails from Sherbrooke, Que., tallied in each outing and dished out three assists helping his side improve to 5-0 early on the year.

Dating back to last season, the crafty forward has scored in seven straight NOJHL regular season contests, including all five games he has appeared in to begin this campaign.

In 60 career NOJHL games, Cloutier-Fortier is playing at nearly a point-per-game clip with 56, including 26 goals.

JARED DUPUIS, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – The 20-year-old Iroquois Falls, Ont., product scored in each outing over the weekend helping the Beavers complete a home-and-home sweep over the rival Soo Thunderbirds.

Dupuis began by putting Blind River ahead for good in a 4-2 road triumph in Sault Ste. Marie Friday.

He then followed that up by notching the game-winner with a shorthanded effort, on a breakaway, Saturday as the Beavers went on to double up the Thunderbirds 6-3.

In just two outings, Dupuis has already matched his tally total from last season.
