Iroquois Falls tops Blind River at the Igloo

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Iroquois Falls Eskis got the game-winning goal and an assist from Brett Ouderkirk to help lead them past the Blind River Beavers 5-1 Saturday night in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Jus Jordan Arena.

Joseph Biers put the home side out front early in the contest while Ouderkirk added another before the five-minute mark to put the Eskis up a pair.

Blind River cut into the Iroquois Falls lead at 5:09 when Bryce Campbell notched his first of the campaign for the Beavers.

The power play allowed the Eskis to take a 3-1 cushion after one period of play thanks to Stuart Harley’s man advantage effort at 15:11.

Iroquois Falls added another 11 minutes into the middle frame on Shadow Reuben’s initial NOJHL tally while David Osborne iced it with the final goal of the night in the latter stages of the contest.

Jacob Erwin had two assists to aid the offensive cause for the winners.

Josh Horner made 41 saves to pick up the win for the Eskis.

Martin Miloslavich started for Blind River and suffered the loss allowing three against in 15 minutes of work.

Maxwell Barr came in and went the rest of the way for the Beavers stopping 23 of 25 in relief.
