BLIND RIVER, Ont. – The Espanola Paper Kings rode the shutout goaltending of Cameron Millar Saturday in blanking the Blind River Beavers 3-0 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) preseason contest at the Blind River Community Centre.
Espanola began the scoring 15 minutes into the proceedings when Gillis O’Diaskey worked a nice give-and-go with Carter Trudell before lifting a backhand up over Blind River starter Samuel Carreias-Pata.
Still 1-0 for the visitors into the second stanza, they extended their lead during a man advantage when Anthony Georgiev sent a blast from the point that pinballed in the crease before Janssen Frasen got the last touch of the puck and chipped it in.
Third period play saw the Paper Kings hold their lead throughout, prior to Frasen propelling a backhand into the an empty net from the neutral zone in the waning moments, to secure the road victory.
Millar was credited with 41 saves in posting the shutout.
