Beavers bounce Eskis
BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Max Khull scored once and added two assists to help the Blind River Beavers bounce the Iroquois Falls Eskis 7-2 Saturday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.
Blind River got things going offensively 3:39 into the contest on Joseph Eben’s sixth goal of the season.
The Eskis tied it at 9:05 on Jacob Erwin’s 13th of the campaign, but Khull put the Beavers back in front 70 seconds later as they took a 2-1 lead into the middle stanza.
It was all Blind River in the second as they notched three unanswered markers to go up 5-1 on efforts supplied by Quintin Wheeler, Liam Sweeney and Andrew Trowbridge.
Matt Murray then made 6-1 five minutes into the third as the Beavers took control of the match-up.
David Stickney’s first in an Eskis uniform in his NOJHL debut brought the visitors closer, but Tyler Somers wrapped up the scoring for Blind River in the victory.
Cole Murray and Alex Dajia joined Khull with two assists on the night.
Matt Blattenberger turned aside 37 of 39 shots fired his way to earn his initial league triumph for the Beavers.
Joe Sheppard faced 41 shots in the loss for Iroquois Falls.
