Rayside-Balfour sinks Blind River

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – The Rayside-Balfour Canadians scored three times in each period to help them sink the Blind River Beavers 9-2 Saturday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.

Rayside-Balfour took control early grabbing a 3-0 cushion after one period of play on markers by Ned Simpson, Tristan Simm and Danny Lepage.

Power play tallies by Bradley Chenier and Joel Lemay made it 5-0 for the Canadians in the middle stanza.

Blind River got one back at 17:58 of the frame courtesy of Austin Hickner, but Kyle Patterson countered that 25 seconds later for Rayside-Balfour.

The Canadians tacked on three more in the third, including two during man advantages, to extend their cushion with Ryan Mooney and Cayse Ton connecting on the power play and Lemay at even strength.

Jay Sidhu had the Beavers’ second goal, which was scored while they were up a man.

Lemay also dished out three assists for a five-point night while Mooney also had three helpers in the win.

Shots on goal favoured the visitors 51-32 with Jessie Morin picking up the win.

Newcomer Connor NeuRauter suffered the loss for Blind River allowing three against on 11 attempts in just over nine minutes of work.

Martin Miloslavich faced 40 shots in relief for the Beavers.
