NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forward Thomas Michaud and goaltender Gavin Disano of the Blind River Beavers as well as Soo Thunderbirds forward Brock Santa Maria have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending March 7.

THOMAS MICHAUD, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – After being acquired by Blind River last month, the 20-year-old Bleinheim, Ont., product chipped in offensively in a big way for his new club.

Michaud tallied in all three games against the Thunderbirds last week and also provided a pair of assists.

This included notching the game-winning goal Saturday afternoon and following that up with a late tying tally in a Sunday matinee, followed quickly by a second-straight deciding marker to help Blind River skate to a pair of home ice triumphs.

His efforts has seen him collect points in his first four contests with the Beavers as he has scored four times and doled out three assists.

GAVIN DISANO, (G) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – Getting the starting nod in all three match-ups against the Soo last week, the 17-year-old rookie netminder collected a pair of victories in the trio of appearances.

Hailing from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Disano faced 99 shots during the time frame and registered a .908 save percentage.

His efforts during the week also raised his record this season to 5-1-0 while leading all first-year goalkeepers in victories.

BROCK SANTA MARIA, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – The 18-year-old collected points in each of the three outings for his hometown side as he scored once and helped set-up three others, including a shorthanded marker.

Santa Maria also boasts a six-game point streak as he etched his name on the game sheet in each of the cohort series match-ups the Thunderbirds had vs. the Beavers.

With five goals and six assists in 12 games, he was well on pace to best the seven markers, dozen helpers and 19 points he collected last season in 50 contests.
