KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers saw Kaeden McArthur tally twice Saturday as part of a 4-2 decision over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.
Blind River got on the board first in this one as they came in on a two-on-one where Joshua Thompson elected to shoot from the right wing and proceeded to pick the corner on Kirkland Lake goaltender John Lloyd at 14:54.
The Gold Miners did tie it before the intermission though when Chance DeBolt stuffed one under Beavers’ starter Charlie Burns while parked to the right of the crease.
Heading to the middle frame, the visitors went to the power play four minutes in and capitalized when Michael Gallagher whipped in a low shot off a Caleb Minns set-up while stationed in close.
Another man advantage effort saw Blind Rivers go up by a pair a couple of shifts later when McArthur connected by wiring one in from the top of the left circle.
A third power play goal by the Beavers in the period, saw McArthur strike once more as he whistled one off the post and in with a shot from up high.
Getting one back with a minute and a half to play, Taye Ladislao slammed in his first in league play as he capitalized from the slot.
However, Blind River held firm from there to secure the road victory that saw Burns get the win while Lloyd suffered the defeat.
