Hannaford’s hat trick helps Elliot Lake sink Blind River
ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – Ty Hannaford had a hat trick while Shane Woolsey supplied a goal and four assists to help the Elliot Lake Wildcats sink the Blind River Beavers 10-4 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Friday at Centennial Arena.
Blind River took an early lead courtesy of Alex Dajia at 3:17 only to see Josef Kittelberger level the proceedings eight minutes later.
Then with the opening frame winding down, Cole Hepler put the home side up 2-1 during a man advantage opportunity at 18:27 with Hepler extending a consecutive game point streak to 17 in the process.
The Wildcats then skated out to a 6-3 lead after 40 minutes on markers by Hannaford, Liam Blais, Connor Rider and Woolsey while Jay Sidhu and Max Khull countered for the Beavers.
Jason Uhl pulled Blind River to within two 3:15 into the third, but Elliot Lake came back with an Alec MacKenzie effort along with two more from Hannaford and the night’s final goal off the stick of Ryan Hackett to round out the scoring.
Spencer MacLean added three assists to aid the Wildcats offensive cause while Uhl and Khull had two helpers each for the Beavers.
David Anderson faced 20 shots in the Elliot Lake net as he picked up his first NOJHL victory.
Martin Miloslavich and Matt Blattenberger both saw time in goal for Blind River and the duo saw a combined 48 attempts fired their way in defeat.
