Eagles get by Beavers 5-3

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Soo Eagles got a goal and two assists from Alex DiBacco to help them get by the Blind River Beavers 5-3 Friday night in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at Pullar Stadium.

Blind River got on the board first in this one thanks to Ted Davis at 5:41.

The Eagles countered with a man advantage effort by Landon Hubbard at 8:44 and then took their first lead of the evening midway through the period as Jake Saxton notched his fifth of the campaign.

Battling back, the Beavers tied it at 15:55 of the first thanks to Max Khull only to see the hosts go back in front courtesy of DiBacco with 94 seconds left in the stanza.

Roman Gaudet made it 4-2 Sault Ste. Marie early in the second while Joseph Eben had one for Blind River at 4:13.

The Eagles got a late marker with six seconds left in the session off the stick of Evan Ketner in what turned out to be the game’s final goal.

Cam Bruggrabe made 27 saves in his NOJHL debut to pick up the win for the Eagles.

Martin Miloslavich made 47 stops in defeat for the Beavers.
