BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Caleb Serre’s 25th goal of the season, coming with 2:24 remaining in regulation, was the game-winner as the Blind River Beavers rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Elliot Lake Wildcats Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.
Action in the opening 20 minutes was scoreless with netminders Garret Boyonoski of Blind River and Logan Sawka of Elliot Lake standing tall.
The Wildcats would eventually open the scoring 3:17 into middle stanza as William Bucsis supplied his 10th tally of the season .
Dylan McMahon’s 21st tied it for the Beavers a couple minutes later only to see Bucsis connect once more at 16:16 to put the visitors back in front heading into the final frame.
In the third, Jack Sampson levelled the proceedings with 5:01 to go setting the stage for Serre to supply the late decider.
McMahon and Steven Khull chipped in with two assists apiece to aid Blind River offensively.
Boyonoski finished with 26 saves to record the win for the Beavers with Sawka seeing 48 shots in a narrow setback for Elliot Lake.
