ESPANOLA, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers trio of Dylan McMahon, Caleb Serre and C.J. Brock combined for 11 points to help them defeat the Espanola Express 4-1 Saturday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at the Regional Recreation Complex.
McMahon started Blind River off offensively by notching a pair of first period tallies to put the visitors up by two after one period of play.
Serre then struck two and a half minutes into the middle stanza to add to the Blind River cushion.
Espanola got that back later in the frame thanks to Matthew Reynolds who connected in his Express debut only to see McMahon round out the night’s scoring as he finished off a hat trick at 13:24 of the session.
The clubs tightened up defensively from there with Blind River goaltender Michael Corson finishing with 40 saves on 41 shots to record the win.
Jacob Hutchings made 31 stops in a losing cause for the Espanola.
Meanwhile, the three assists earned by Brock were his first points in league play for the Beavers.
Serre’s trio of helpers along with his marker saw him match a season-high for points in a game.
