VIDEO / GALLERY: Big road win for Blind River in Timmins

TIMMINS, Ont. – An Evan Fraccaro power play marker 12:46 into the second period proved to be the game-winner as the Blind River Beavers pulled out a narrow 2-1 victory over the Timmins Rock Friday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League get together at McIntyre Arena.

It remained scoreless for most of the first period, but saw Timmins connect on a late power play at 19:40.

The marker was supplied Lucas Piekarczyk, who collected his opening NOJHL goal, when he beat Blind River netminder Gavin Disano with a backhand over the blocker from the left side.

Answering with an equalizer, while up a skater themselves, Joshua Thompson converted at 4:35 of the middle session with his initial league tally as he quickly fired in a one-timer off a nice set-up from Caleb Minns following some crisp puck movement by the Beavers.

They then saw Fraccaro provide the eventual difference maker, via the man advantage, during a four-on-three scenario, as he took a solid cross-ice feed from Matthew Green in the left circle and promptly whipped it past Boivin, who could not get across in time to keep it out.

The rest of the contest was tight-checking with neither side giving up anything up defensively, which was beneficial for the Beavers, as they came away with the narrow road triumph and a second straight triumph over the Rock.

The outcome also saw Blind River raise their record to 4-1 overall, while Timmins dipped to 4-2 early on the season.
