BLIND RIVER, Ont. – A five-goal third period barrage sent the Blind River Beavers past the Elliot Lake Wildcats 8-2 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Saturday at the Blind River Community Centre.

Blind River began the proceedings with the night’s opening tally, 8:14 in, as David Campbell collected his ninth marker of the campaign.

A late power play helped Elliot Lake get one back as Jake Rhoades picked up his sixth.

Then, down a skater after that, Connor Taylor struck shorthanded for the Wildcats to make a 3-2 games after two periods of play.

Countering early in the third, Blind River went back up by a pair as Kyle Quinn connected for his seventh overall with help from Caleb Serre, who ran a point streak to six straight games as he etched his name on the score sheet for the 15th time in his past 16 outings.

Campbell then added his second of the night and 10th overall as the Beavers went up by three.

Not done there, the hosts racked up three more tallies to finish off the victory as Devon Savignac, Adam Drolet, with his first, in his NOJHL debut, and Bryan Clanhassey all found the back of the net.

The Beavers’ Nathan Balkwill dished out three assists in the triumph, joining Campbell and Quinn with three-point nights.

Jackson Hjelle made 30 saves to record the win for Blind River.

Jonathan Lemaire started in net for Elliot Lake, allowing three against on 28 chances, and suffered the loss while Zachary Vollicks had 34 stops in two periods of relief.
