Today’s Blind River Beavers have some tough competition coming. They are the men who wore the jerseys before, some before our present players were even born (sorry guys – the truth hurts sometimes). They were also called the Blind River Beavers –Goalies John Shamas and J.C. Labbee, Todd (Beaker) Beemer, Greg (Mouse) Beemer, Paul Talbot, Robert (Buzzy) Bazinet, Pat (Magoo) Fallu, Steve Schellekens, Dave Rainville, Jerry Jensen, Ross Jensen, Robin St. Jules, Jeff Bissaillon, Darren Rainville, Keith Kennedy, Duncan McDonald, Dave Paul, Bobby Seymour and R.J. Degagne.
Scheduled for 2 p.m. on the outdoor rink, the game will be moved inside in the event of inclement weather. We don’t have those big shovels you saw at the Winter Classic, nor do we have 40 volunteers with the skills needed to push snow out of the way between plays.
The TimBits (also known as “Future Beavers”) are scheduled to play during the first intermission. There will be a Chuck-a-puck during the 2nd intermission and a 50/50 draw will be held during the 3rd period. Bay Laderoute will have a canteen set up near the outdoor rink with hot chcolate and coffee to warm your fingers.
Come on out and enjoy the Winter Carnival and catch what promises to be a very entertaining game. Can the present Beavers trump the years of experience brought by the Alumni Team? Can the Alumni Team beat the stamina of youth?
Only time will tell. See you there!
