Beavers prevail with road win over Eagles

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – An Ethan Graham goal 5:14 into the second period proved to be the game-winner as the Blind River Beavers went on to pick up a 3-1 victory over the Soo Eagles Saturday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter in front of 642 spectators at Pullar Stadium.

The Beavers pressed the pace in the opening 20 minutes outshooting the Eagles 14-4 in the session and were rewarded with the lone goal of the period late thanks to Riley Nadeau’s fifth at 18:32 giving him points in three in a row.

Blind River then went up by two just past the five-minute mark of the second stanza when Graham connected for the visitors in supplying the eventual difference maker.

Sault Ste. Marie got one back very late in the session as Cam Parrott struck for his first NOJHL goal just prior to the horn sounding to end the period.

However the visitors added some insurance early in the third with Jack McLeod picking up his fourth at the campaign at 1:40 to round out the night’s scoring.

Shots on goal in the contest favoured Blind River by a 32-30 margin with Thomson Phinney picking up the win while Joseph Benedetto suffered the defeat.
