BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Mike Cabral and Nick Richards both notched their first Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League goals to help the Blind River Beavers record their fourth straight victory, a 3-1 decision over the Timmins Rock Sunday afternoon at the Blind River Community Centre.
After a scoreless opening period, Cabral collected his initial NOJHL marker five minutes into the middle session to put the home side in front.
Timmins tied things up with a Stewart Parnell power play effort at 11:27 as his sixth of the campaign saw him score for a second straight outing while also run a modest point streak to four in the process.
Richards then supplied the eventual game-winner late in the stanza as his first came during a Blind River man advantage opportunity.
Max Khull’s 12th tally of the season just past the five-minute mark of the third added some insurance for the Beavers in what proved to be the final goal of the day.
Jacob Papesh picked up two assists to aid the winner’s cause in the triumph.
Blind River netminder Garret Boyonoski and the club’s defensive corps did a solid job holding off Rock chances with the Beavers netminder finishing with 28 saves to pick-up the victory.
Eric Jackson meanwhile faced 35 shots in defeat for Timmins.
