BLIND RIVER, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers broke open a tie game with three unanswered goals in the latter stages of the third period to pull out a 4-1 victory over the Cochrane Crunch Saturday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Blind River Community Centre.
It was a close-checking first frame that went scoreless before the Crunch got on the board four minutes into the middle stanza on a Nic Flanders shorthanded marker.
Blind River drew level however before the session was complete thanks to Jack Sampson at 12:06.
It stayed 1-1 until the back half of the third when the Beavers tallied twice 54 seconds apart on power play tallies from Sampson and Michael Cabral.
Jack Rudin then finished off the offensive outburst in the late going as Blind River secured the win.
Caleb Serre dished out two assists to also aid the Beavers’ cause.
Garret Boyonoski made 44 saves to record the victory for Blind River while Taylor Unruh faced 50 shots in defeat for the Crunch.
