Eagles edge Beavers in OT

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – An Evan Ketner power play marker 2:58 into overtime was the difference as the Soo Eagles edged the Blind River Beavers 3-2 Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.

It was the visiting Eagles who supplied the lone goal in the opening session as Sam Rappaport collected his fourth of the campaign while also running a modest point streak to three.

Special teams allowed Blind River to tie it 14:19 into the second stanza Quintin Wheeler scored during a Beavers man advantage opportunity.

The hosts then went in front with just three seconds left in the middle frame as Bryce Campbell knocked in the go ahead marker.

Battling back, the Eagles drew level and forced OT with 10:46 left in regulation when Nate Harris raised his tally total to a dozen for the Michigan Soo side.

Up a man in extra time, the visitors won it as Eagles captain Ketner notched the game-winner to give them the win.

Jack Deines was busy in the Eagles net making 40 saves in recording the victory.

Martin Miloslavich was also tested on this night seeing 44 shots fired his way in net for the Beavers as his efforts helped Blind River earn a point with the OT setback.
